Questions parents actually ask
Nobody buys a book they cannot look at first without asking a few things. Here are the ones that come up.
The book
Will it actually look like my child?
It is illustrated to look like them — hair, skin tone, glasses, the haircut in the photo you send. It is a drawing, not a likeness guarantee, and we would rather say that plainly than promise a portrait.
Can I see it before I pay?
Not yet. Illustrating a book takes a person several days, so we can’t do it on spec. What we can do is show you the cover and three spreads from each book at the size they print, and reprint free if the finished book isn’t right.
Dino Land and Moonlight Zoo both have them.
How long does it take?
Ten days from the day your photos arrive: three to illustrate, one to check, a week to print, bind and ship. Metros usually land sooner. If it will be late you hear it from us first.
Can I order for two children?
Each book is illustrated for one child, so two children means two orders. You can pick the same story twice or one of each.
What is actually in the book?
Dino Land is fifty-two pages, Moonlight Zoo is fifty-six. Both are 8 × 10 inches, hardbound, layflat stitched, on 170gsm uncoated paper, for ages three to seven. Your child is on every spread and their first name is set into the artwork. The story text is the same in every copy.
Photos
What happens to the photos I send?
They go to the illustrator working on your book and nobody else. We delete them thirty days after your book ships, we never use them in advertising, and there is a plain-language photo policy that says so.
How many photos, and what makes a good one?
Three. Front on, in daylight, the whole face in frame, no cap and no sunglasses. A couple of different angles help. JPEG or HEIC, up to 15 MB each, and at least 400px on the short edge.
Straight off a phone is fine. A good photo from last week beats a studio portrait from two years ago.
What if one of my photos won’t work?
We tell you. Anything the upload page can catch by itself — wrong file type, too large, too small — it tells you on the spot, and says which file and why. Anything else I write to you about while the book is still on the desk.
Can I have the photos deleted sooner?
Yes. Write to admin@nayratales.com and we delete them. If the book has not been illustrated yet, deleting the photos stops that, so tell us what you want to happen to the order too.
Paying and delivery
When am I charged?
At checkout, in full. ₹2,999 including tax, with free delivery anywhere in India. There is no cash on delivery.
₹2,999 is the launch price, against ₹4,499 once we are past the start.
What if my PIN code isn’t serviceable?
Checkout will tell you at the address step. A PIN can be perfectly valid and still have no courier we can reach it with — write to admin@nayratales.com and we will post it.
Can I change the delivery address after I have ordered?
Write to us as soon as you know. If the book has not shipped we can change it. Once it is with the courier it is out of our hands.
What if the book arrives damaged?
Tell me and we reprint it. You keep the first one. Reprints and refunds has the detail, and delivery and returns covers what happens when a parcel goes missing.
Who is behind this?
